About the event

Unlock The Future Of Leadership

When leaders commit to personal mastery and integrate the disciplines of organizational learning, they don’t just perform better — they transform the systems they serve.

We are living at an inflection point—a moment in history where the future is still open to be shaped. It is clear that the next chapter will demand more of us—not just new policies or technologies, but a profound evolution in how we lead, live, and relate to one another.

Our gathering 26 – 28 September 2025: Personal Mastery for Collective Impact – A Journey Toward Sustainable Futures, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam stands on the shoulders of giants.

It continues the 25-year legacy of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL)—a global network co-founded by Peter Senge and other visionaries who introduced the world to systems thinking, learning organizations, and the integration of personal growth with institutional transformation.

We are convening a diverse community of pioneers, practitioners, and purpose-driven leaders along with committed changemakers and learners to explore together how deep personal mastery  can unlock meaningful systems-level change. If that’s you, come join us.

OUR PANELLISTS AND FACILITATORS

Connecting To What Matters

SoL has always believed that change begins from within—and that the inner life of leaders directly shapes the systems we seek to transform. Since the publication of The Fifth Discipline in 1990, thousands of organizations and communities around the world—from global corporations to grassroots networks—have adopted the five disciplines to foster cultures of  continuous learning for resilience and systems innovation.

In this SoL Global Forum 2025 we want to deep dive into Personal Mastery as a source of regeneration of peoples’ leadership within organizations and communities to effectively navigate today’s complexities and uncertainties while co-evolving and fulfilling the shared future that we all want.

An exciting line up of expert speakers, presenters, panellists and facilitators who will generously share their experience as well as creating the space for all of us to see new ways we can all lead ourselves and collaborate with others for collective impact.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Exploring Together

At the heart of leading and sustaining collective change lies Personal Mastery—the practice of systems awareness, being on-purpose, and showing up fully and consistently for your self, others and the wider systems around. It’s the discipline of staying connected while navigating change with clarity and courage.

Each day we will journey through uncovering, connecting and learning;  to engage with individuals and organizations that are already engaging or are ready to start engaging in Personal Mastery as the pivotal access to generate ways of living, working and socializing that bring wellbeing to every member and element of the system.

We kick off with welcome addresses by key business leader in Vietnam and Chairperson of HAWEE, Mdm Dung followed by Chairperson of Global SOL , Stephen Gianotti.

Our first panel takes us through real life applications with CEO and management insights on The Role of Personal Mastery inside Organizational Leadership what it takes to do that and how does it  empower  innovation, and collaboration. What are the trade-offs and risks? Is it worth it? Hear from Chris Freund from Mekong Capital, Ms Tina Thao from PNJ and Ms Tassinee Vajasthira from Abbra Group, moderated by Tara Kimbrell-Cole.

Having heard the panellists, we move to discuss a Singapore Management University Business School case study on a Vietnamese business, facilitated by co-author Dr Ramesh Ramachandra along with guest speakers, Mr Quang Nguyen and Ms Cao Thị Khánh Chi from VTHM.

The case study workshop is concluded with an introduction to co-organizer, Impact Velocity by Poorani Thanusha, Organizing Chairperson of the SOL Global Forum 2025, as well as a precursor to the live virtual talk by Peter Senge on Personal Mastery for Collective Impact, how the discipline of Personal Mastery has evolved over the last 35 years and its current and future relevance for Collective Impact.

We start this day with two concurrent workshops to choose facilitated by deep practitioners and long-time consultants: Co-authors Stephano Gionatti, Patricia Gionatti, and Hoh Kim will present their work on being a Self-Differentiated Leader, while Patrick Bijman and Guus Geisen from SOL Netherlands will share about the framework for Personal Mastery for Youth.

Then we all convene back for an exciting panel, moderated by Robert Steel, in discussion with Jimmy Pham from KOTO, Nguyen Thu Hue from  Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development and  Nguyen Cong Niem from f88 on the topic of Collective Impact For Communities; what does it take and how much does Personal Mastery shape impact at the level of communities?

We end day two with an interactive session with Adam Kahane, a master facilitator and global peace maker – futures strategist, who will utilize the framework of his latest book “Everyday Habits for Transforming Systems” to bring us to a collective clarity of action. His fireside chat with Stephen Gianotti is followed by Adam’s facilitation of the practices.

We begin the final day with two concurrent workshops – one session led by experienced Consultant and Coach Tara Kimbrell Cole covering Inner Saboteurs Toward Personal , through Positive Intelligence  while the other session covering Personal Mastery with Sustainability Compass, Robert Steel from Compass Education and Kate Dore from UN International School Hanoi will share Discovering Inner Awareness Throuhg An Outer Compass Guide.

What personal and community practices or values already exist that we can bring to the forefront with panellists Phung Truong from Montessorri Vietnam, Tebogo Mogaleemang from SOL Botswana and and T Ranganayaki from Potsdam University, Berlin.

A conference of this nature is committed to ending with a call for action, a commitment to what next. We will have a last Session to Design For Wiser Action on the concluding question:  How do move forward with shared commitments? facilitated by Peter Seah, master facilitator , SOL Singapore chairperson.

By the time we conclude the session, you will have attended 9 enriching sessions that engage you (and your team) to be ready to cause the next level of collective actions for our flourishing future with specific shared projects for 2026 across communities.

ABOUT PERSONAL MASTERY

Although there are many definitions and frameworks around Personal Mastery today, as the Society for Organizational Learning, we are primarily guided by Personal Mastery as a discipline espoused by Peter Senge in his 1990 book, "The Fifth Discipline", as a foundational discipline of continuous learning of self, from part awareness towards systems awareness, which involves recognizing one's role within these systems and how one’s own actions contribute to broader outcomes. In connecting profoundly and collectively to a shared future, the impetus to foster conditions where humans and nature can thrive together for the long term with healthier social systems, promoting shared leadership and willingness to adapting to navigate complex systems and their challenges effectively.
